Album 104 – The Rizal Park Chronicles – Thank You Joe!

The succeeding posts I’ll be showing to you are images captured from the infamous Rizal Park in Manila, Philippines. Feast your eyes, everyone!

First stop, the creations of an Olympic Artist and Sculptor, Jose “Joe” F. Datuin:

Ang Bagong Pinoy – this sculpture symbolizes a new and reformed Filipino who abides by his country’s Constitution, laws, and aspirations – a model Filipino, patriotic and free from corruption, conscious of his responsibility to uplift the lives of his fellow-Filipinos so that all may live with a sense of dignity and refinement. This inspiring sculpture represents “pagbabago”, or renewal. Th rings, which symbolize perfection and flexibility, form a human figure that represents all the Filipinos, strong, resilient, and victorious despite the adversities that they have faced through the centuries.
Prosperity – the 4th part of of the Mosaic Murals “Ang Pagbabago”. It is the fruit of industry, perseverance, and innovation. A nation prospers when the people and their leaders are working toward a common vision with focus, a spirit of initiative and patience, since time is essential to achieve the best results. These values are depicted in the abstract work whose lively colors depict the rising of the sun, while its industrial feel denotes prosperity and success.
Unity – The 3rd part of the Mosaic Murals “Ang Pagbabago”. It binds us all to build a strong nation. The mesh of the fiber-like forms in monochromatic earth tones connotes unity amidst the diversity of people who come together to realize common goal, which is that of prosperity and greatness.
Dancing Rings – This work is a replica of the “Dancing Rings” sculpture which won 1st prize in the 2008 International Olympic Committee Sport and Art Contest (Sculpture Category) at Lausanne, Switzerland in the celebration of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Committee (IOC) Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland. This replica, which represents Filipino ingenuity and global competitiveness in the arts, immortalizes the artist’s original work in the very home of its creation.
Love – The 2nd part of the Mosaic Murals “Ang Pagbabago”. It is the greatest virtue. It encompasses all things and people. The intensity of emotion that love brings is emphasized by the abstracted warm flames of orange and red in the mural. The abstracted images symbolize love in the form of ideas, beliefs, and acts.
Peace – The 1st part of the Mosaic Murals “Ang Pagbabago”. True prosperity in one’s nation is achieved when there is peace, our nation’s quest for long-lasting peace is depicted by the flying dove. In the mural, the dove flies in the horizons of certainty – Tuwid na Daan. The cool colors exude serenity.
World-Class Filipino Bloom – Every hour, every minute, every second, world-class Filipino bloom to change the landscape of the world. Like exotic flowers, exuding vibrancy, these Filipinos make their imprints in history by sharing their expertise, genius and talent to society so that the panorama becomes even more stunning, more picturesque. Indeed, the Filipinos are destined to make a difference in the world for generations to come. Set in the striking hues of red, yellow, blue and green, this flower clock illustrates the continuous blossoming of radiant world-class Filipinos whose excellence has made an impact on the lives of their countrymen and the peoples of the world.

Cheers,

Eijereichero
